Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...
Nancy is a painter and mixed media artist. Taking inspiration from a varied range of found and foraged objects such from seed heads and pine cones.
Nancy arranges these treasures to create collections, working quickly with various medium she captures and reflects the fleeting nature of the landscape.
Having recently moved to Corsham from Bristol, Nancy’s days are a constant strive for balance. She works in short bursts, as she finds that long periods without working makes her work stale. Nancy tells us, “I am an early riser, as I find the peace and hope of a new day inspires me more than evening work.”
In Nancy’s home studio, she has small areas of collections - bottles, feathers, jugs - so she always has something to paint. There is also a 1970's very comfy chair for quick napping. “I don't allow anyone into my space and I always leave my phone outside.” What a great idea!
Nancy is excited to be part of the Peacock Arts Trail to – “I have only lived in Corsham since July 2020, so haven't had the opportunity to meet any fellow artists, or my local community as much as I would hope.” She is keen to engage with other people about her practice, and also discover other artists work.
