Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...
Claire Watson of TidalArtUk lives locally but yearns to be by the sea. She loves to spend her time on the beaches of Dorset, Pembrokeshire and Cornwall, collecting driftwood and anything else that catches her attention.
Many years ago Claire saw a book with painted driftwood in which inspired her to have a go. She now has boxes of driftwood that she’s collected over the years and most of her trips down to the coast end up with her bringing back a selection of driftwood for her art.
Claire likes to travel, learn about different cultures and particularly enjoys walking along beaches and in the country too. She works full time as a barber so her free time is limited, but the past year has afforded her the opportunity to indulge herself and focus on her art.
When she first started making it was purely for her own enjoyment but as time has gone on, Claire’s house has filled up. She would love to give up her full time job and spend more time doing art.
