Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...
PJ Buchanan of SkyDog Glass loves to create pieces with bold colours that will last as cherished art pieces.
After years as an IT professional, PJ embarked on a journey as a creative glass artist and produces pieces that are both functional for the home as well as being decorative pieces of art in their own right.
PJ started with a weekend fused glass taster session about 15 years ago, and from then on she was hooked. She has continued to build her skills by attending courses and master classes in places as far afield as the USA. She has now fulfilled her ambition to be a full time glass artist.
From her studio at the bottom of the garden - a converted garage – PJ’s favourite tools are her kiln and glass cutter. She tells us, “I work hard to keep it uncluttered, but somehow I can't quite manage that”. She cuts the glass precisely to fit in its place and sometimes fuses a piece multiple times.
PJ is inspired by geometric art and loves to scroll through images of abstract art which just take her breath away. In particular she loves Kandinsky, Miro, Klee and Modrian, to name a few.
