Maker Spotlight - Judith Beeby

Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...

Judith’s paintings are a balance between freedom and control. Her hope is to provide a sense of calm and reassurance during a difficult time.

Judith finds that watercolours are the perfect medium for expressing the tranquility and peace of isolated landscapes and, “couldn’t work without a selection of beautiful watercolour paper”. She also works in oils and imitation gold leaf and uses the images from her paintings on cushions too.

Judith has a BA Applied Art and an MA Fine Art, both from Bath Spa University, and has exhibited widely ever since. She sells regularly from her website as well as renting out larger paintings to London offices. Her ambition is to continue to exhibit internationally once restrictions allow.

Judith is very lucky to paint in a light and spacious studio at Stockham Marsh Farm in Foxham, next to the Best Ever Chocolate Brownie Company! (Peacock HQ is VERY jealous!) The Peacock Arts Trail is extremely important to Judith as it strengthens her local network, puts her in touch with other artists and keeps her work alive locally.

Judith’s children are now grown up and living away from home, so she can now spend her spare time reading, running, gardening and doing whatever takes her fancy. When we asked her how art had changed her life, she told us, “art has without doubt changed my life, I enjoy every minute I have in the studio”.
