Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...
Jan is a painter and illustrator working with watercolour crayons and gouache from her home studio.
Jan has always loved using her imagination and seeing the ‘magical’ in all the natural things around her. She takes inspiration from outside in the fields and woods, as well as remembered and imaginary places, poetry and music.
Jan also teaches, sharing her skills with others around her kitchen table. She finds that art, “gets you out of your own skin into somewhere else and enables you to flourish in a way that feels so good”. She loves exhibiting on the Peacock Arts Trail, especially meeting a “remarkable and lovely cross section of local people”.
When Jan isn’t painting she enjoys being with her family and friends, listening to music, reading and poetry, as well as going on adventures and hearing about peoples lives in the wild.
