Maker Spotlights: each day we will be focusing on individual exhibitors, exploring their work and finding out what makes them tick...
Celia Smith is an artist who draws with wire, as others draw with pencil. For her, creating sculptures out of wire is like drawing in three dimensions.
Working from her garden studio – an old shed made of corrugated tin – Celia’s main inspiration are birds. Capturing their movement and character is her primary concern. She finds that wire has a spontaneity that can give her sculptures a feeling of life and energy.
Celia has also just finishing MA in printmaking, where she has been developing her skills in collagraph printmaking and enamelling.
