Venue #4 – Elizabeth Barnikel & Humphry Barnikel

Continuing on the beautiful High Street towards the Town Centre, you will come to venue number four, home to two of our fabulous painters…

Elizabeth Barnikel

An 18th century gazebo in Corsham, is the idyllic sounding studio for painter Elizabeth Barnikel. Here, she creates striking slightly abstract landscapes inspired by Australia which reflect the strong light enjoyed by that country.

Elizabeth is a retired teacher who is now thoroughly enjoying painting as well as gardening, china restoration, walking, sewing – and many other hobbies! She feels that the Peacock Trail adds to Corsham’s great cultural life and really enjoys being a part of that, as well as chatting to the interesting people who visit her studio.

Humphry Barnikel

Humphry is a retired chemistry teacher whose balmy paintings are influenced by childhood holidays in Cornwall. He loves painting Cornish boats and their reflections in the water, but can also appreciate the lines of Mediterranean fishing boats.

When he’s not painting, Humphrey is a runner, a school governor, a member of NADFAS and Corsham Art Society and loves his holidays which often include skiing and watersports!
